The Bachelorette Schedule: When to Have a Bachelorette Party

Updated for 2023

Planning a bachelorette party means getting the perfect timing so that everyone can enjoy themselves. It’s not enough to throw the best bachelorette party if no one attends or everyone who is attending is stressed out about other things. Luckily, there are some easy rules of thumb to schedule the bachelorette party.

Give Yourself Time To Plan the Bachelorette

It can be so tempting to throw a bachelorette party as soon as you hear that your friend is engaged. After all, shouldn’t everyone be as excited about her special day as you are? However, this can lead to more stress for everyone involved. You want to make sure that you give yourself enough time to plan and everyone else enough time to get everything ready to attend.

This is important because you need to be able to account for all the details that go into planning the party. For instance, you need a venue, accommodations, transportation for the entire night or weekend, and other little details that will make the bachelorette party perfect. Beyond this, you need to give everyone else time as well. They may need to ask for time off from work or get a babysitter for their kids. There’s also a financial component to consider. If you are having all the attendees pitch in to pay for the bride, they may need time to save up the money.

Talk to the bride to schedule a day or weekend right away so you can begin the hard part of the planning and give the guests notice so they can clear their busy schedules.

But Not Too Much Time

You’ve probably seen the movies where the bachelorette party takes place the night before the wedding. Usually, this leads to a crazy night where the bridal party wakes up with a horrible hangover and has to put themselves together in time for the wedding. This is never an ideal scenario, no matter how entertaining it may be to watch.

Having a bachelorette party has more consequences than affecting the wedding day, however. For instance, if the bachelorette party takes up a whole weekend, your guests may need to get their finances in order to pay for the hotel and all the other expenses.

When to Have a Bachelorette Party

The best time to plan a bachelorette party is about one to four months before the wedding day. Why is this the perfect time? This is because it gives you plenty of time to get the plans set but it also keeps the bachelorette party separate from the wedding day. Having it at least one month out from the date of the wedding will give the bride the opportunity to enjoy herself without worrying about her actual wedding day.
